Default The reason why I won't be selling my car soon.

Altho we know we can't really afford it, my wife and I today were looking at on 06 plate Vectra 1.8VVT Exlcusiv. It was in great condition and was on the market for 8k.

However, I was extremely disappointed when I got into it...For the most part it looked exactly like my trusty 03 Veccy, but with a lot of my current creature comforts/toys noticebly absent.

Anways, I asked the sales rep to give me a value on my Veccie. The wife nearly had to hold me up when he told me. Perhaps I am far too naive, but I thought I would be offered somewhere around £4000. No where close! Maximum they were prepared to offer me was £3125 based of Glasses guide.

I have looked at several facelifts now, and to be honest, they do not seem to come anywhere close to the SRi I currently have in internal specs. So this has raffirmed my decision to keep hold of my current motor. It looks like she'll be around for a long long time. I am still planning to spend some money on her next year for some additions, so sooner or later I may be the member with one of the oldest Vec-Cs soldiering on....

Same here mate, my 03 SRi has lots of toys which the newer ones don't.

I could live without most of it besides the absence of the rear air vents, IMO a car the size of the Vec really needs those rear vents.

Its bad isn't it, the trade in value is rubbish. Plus you would be hard pressed to find a decent spec'd facelift compared to the prefacelift. Just facelift yours!

My motto has always been, if it aint broke, dont change it. IMO there are far more important things to spend my hard earned cash on than cars. Personnal preference but ....... Statistics probably in your favour that you can still have many years of relative trouble free motoring in your present car. My first priority in life was 2 pay off the mortgage in 10 years. I did in 5 and saved an absolute fortune over the years. I could almost buy a Ferarri with the money I saved in interest payments (I wouldnt, I like me Vectra 2 much).

I'll be joining you as I won't be selling soon. There is no point getting rid of prefectly good car just because the headlights are a different shape. Love my estate and engine wise has never gone wrong ..... (touch wood)

I have just changed mine and got a really good price px, the reason being I was part exchanging the car for the same (Elite). Looked at 3 SRI's and got offered 1k less in px than eventually the Elite that I bought.

Prices did go up and down on the car I was buying, but found the higher the on screen price of the new car meant a higher px on my old car.

In the end it all came down to the amount I had to pay the stealers for the new car - what I got for mine became less important as to how much they wanted off me.
