Default AFL related Facelift Conversion question...

Ok, technical question for you Vauxhall gurus out there...

I've found a nice 2005 Signum on autotrader, and assuming it's still available when I get back to the UK next week I'll hopefully be buying it. I had been looking for a fdacelift with all the same spec (1.9 150, Elite, Black, with AFL...) but the prices rise dramatically when you get to the 55 plate models...

So, having found one that ticks all the boxes exceot for being facelift, my mind began wondering...

Like my current 05 SRi 1.9, it appears to be a full canbus model, with the interior from the later Signum, CD70 Navi etc, and looks identical to my old 06 plate Signum Elite except for the 4 spoke steering wheel. As my main feature I wanted was the Adaptive Forward Lighting, I was pleasantly suprised to find one with it fitted.

Now, if I felt the need to upgrade the front of the car to a facelift model, would the AFL wiring/plugs be the same? All the sensors etc would be there, and I'd like to think the Tech2 programming would all be the same, along with anythign else that was requiered to make it work, as the car is full canbus...

It's either that or I'd end up changing the car a few years down the line again to one qwhich was exactly the same, but a facelift...

    Anyone any ideas...?

    Cheers...

Realted note - My current car would need to be sold too...

Surely you have just to wait and get the car you REALLY want. Even if it takes a while.

The connections on should all be the same with it being full canbus but unless you can find a rear ended vec/siggy at the scrappers you're going to be looking at well over £400 a side for the AFL's.

I'd be tempted to hold out for the one I really wanted though, as BigLad says.

My problem is that as of next october, I'll be officially unemployed as I'll be leaving the RAF. Although I have plans for jobs and further training etc, I won't have the spare cash lying around to be paying for a car - so I'm paying my current one off at huge amounts every month to clear it before the end of this year. I've always agreed that you should wait for the car you really want, but in this case I'm being so specific that I'd probably be waiting a very long time to find one - and even then I'd be paying a few grand on top of what I already owe for my current car. The one I'm looking at is priced at about the same i can sell my current one for, so I'm losing nothing and gaining a lot, and would have the option to slowly convert it if I so wished. I would also own the car outright by the time I left the RAF, and even if I didn't drive it I'd still have it parked at my parents etc...

Conclusion - if the car's still available when I get home, I'm going to try my best to get my hands on it, and go from there...
