Default 2.2 Direct Engine Number Location

Can anyone tell me where I can find the engine serial number. Presumably this will be stamped somewhere on the block itself?

Note: It is the location of the individual engine serial number I wish to find, not the engine code, which I know to be Z22YH.

I wish to cross reference this with my log book to see if the engine is original, or at least tally's up with the log book.

    Cheers

    Mark,

Had a good look today for this (whilst cleaning the Butterfly Assembly as per pther thread) and couldn't find any sticker on the Timing Chain Cover. Can you be more specific - is it high up or low down on the cover i.e. should I be able to see this from the engine bay, or from down below. I've tried doing both to no avail.

Is the number not stamped into the block also somewhere. It's just I have my suspicions whether the engine is original or not. Would be nice to confirm it corresponds to the Log Book that's all.

    Cheers

    Martin

Reckon I have found the answer.....

    http://www.speedsterclub.nl/bibliotheek/technische%20documentatie/tis/Standard%20Information/Engine%20and%20Engine%20Aggregates/00031629-Engine%20Identification,%20Engine%20Number.pdf

..... presuming of course the number on the Z22YH (2.2 Direct Engine) is in the same place as the Z22SE (2.2 Non Direct Engine).

I have a different Engine from new in my 2.2 mate, I had to send the logbook away to get it updated, so now according to the logbook this is the proper lump. Why do you want to find out apart from the obvious? Your lump wont fall into the small oil jet category especially with it being a YH
