Go for the 2.0T then m8. The 2.2 has around 148bhp and the 2.2 direct has around 155bhp. The 2.0T is up around 175bhp and with a BSR remap around 220bhp All very similar on fuel

Yep it was a lovely motor did nt have much luck with people hitting into it (happen about 4 times when parked up) but apart from that it was spot on . Performance wise i d say go for the GSi but i would say that , running it it aint that bad but it is more than the sri , if you do a lot of motorway miles its ok petrol wise and driving sensible but town driving it loves to drink but hey don t we all

The basic engine is the same but the Direct has direct fuel injection which gives a littler more power and improved fuel economy. All petrol 2.2 Sigs and Vec estates were the Direct unit. The rest of the petrol 2.2 Vecs became Direct in 2004.
I've got a Direct and can get between 350 and nearly 500 miles from a tank depending on the type of driving. The Direct's can have a problem with the high pressure fuel pumps and regulators - but what car doesn't have potential problems!

Don't get a 3.2 then m8. Around 240-300 miles MAXIMUM to the tankfull at a push
I had the SAAB 9-3 Aero 2.0T with a BSR remap (266bhp) and could get around 25mpg around town and 36ish on a run

If you want some info on the 2.0T vec/signum with Stage 3 BSR tuning, PM Duncan
