    Default alternator pulley squeak.

    hi guys,

just to put my mind at rest, took my aux belt off this morning as the car has been noisy in idling. still noisy with belt off and when i spun the alt pulley with my hands it squeaks a little. has this had it or is there a quick fix?

Also had the cambelt changed a while back and the water pump changed recently and the engine still sounds a bit rough around that area.

any ideas would be appreciated and also if anyone has had these problems could you give me an idea on any costs if possible.

    cheers and thanks.

    kev bux.

when the cambelt was done, did they change the idler/tensioner pulleys as well, as if they didn't then they should have. if the noise is there without the aux belt on then the noise has to be coming from behind the cambelt cover.. if the waterpump has been changed and the belt has been done without the rollers then i'd be taking the belt off and seeing if the bearings are failing ( not uncommon hence why VX say they should be changed with the belt)..

they will more than likely not change them FOC, as they could claim they were never instructed to fit a full kit..and you can't prove either way....
