Default Metallic High Pitch Squealing Noise

Hi all. I have noticed in the last few days a really high pitch squealing noise coming from the front of the car !

It only occurs when I turn the steering wheel to the left, or take a left hand bend. It does not do it the other way round - i.e turn the wheel right or turn right

It sounds like its coming from the drivers side front wheel.

I first thought it could be the brakes, so I took the wheels off to take a look & everything seems fine. It's a really deep penetrating metalic sort of squeal.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated before it has to go in to be looked at

There's a little heat shield near the bottom ball joint on the steering knuckle that has a habit of rubbing on the disc. If that's what it is, just bend it out of the way.

Strangely enough today, I thought I'd got a knackered o/s wheel bearing.

Having removed the brake caliper, the squealing noise was still there so it wasn't the brakes.

After nosing round underneath, there it was - the flimsy metal whatever you call it was rubbing on the disc.

    Pulled it back, job done.

However, forgot to grease the coil suspension cups as in this hot weather, the suspension is back to making those boing boing noises.

EDIT - was the n/s, not the o/s, same as CarlM.

    Default Thank god!

After having new pads and discs - then going round every wheel and checking pads, greasing back plate etc.......................still squeaking

Quick google - Vectra C forum, went outside, put on full lock and rammed a screw driver behind plate................jobs a goodun
