Where's Your Clutch Bite Point?

Just curious as to where people's clutch bite points are. If 0% is pedal not pressed & 100% is pedal to the floor.

The reason being I've just had my dmf, clutch & slave cylinder replaced due to a faulty dmf after 30k, before the repair my bite point was around 40%, now it's down low at about 80%.

I know it's all hydraulic & non adjustable, and I was assured it's been properly bled out and is just a case of it bites where it bites. I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts.

PS, might be worth mentioning the miles your clutch has done.

I thought if it bites near the top its on its way out. My girlfriends Puma had done 50k and was biting at the top and when replaced it went right to the bottom. It was so bad I couldn't get up a steep hill near work, I don't know how she didn't notice it slipping.

Just test the clutch 1st gear and handbrake on it should stall or floor it when driving along in 4th say, revs should rise too quick.

80% ie 20% from the floor is too low. sounds like it either isnt bled properly or one of the push rods is too short.

I find mine has a very long bite. It starts at about 80% and is fully engaged at about 10%.

Sometimes get aching knees due to the long travel of the pedal, so would love to find a way of the getting it to only reach full disengagement when it hits the floor.

Approx 50% in the GSi 30K miles.

i would say mine is is about 55% on a 3.0v6 cdti with 54k on the clock

Around about 50% on a 2.2 Direct Petrol with 2k on the clock
