    Default Internal "cleaning" of engines

Many years ago, when diesel fuel wasn't that good quality, I used to use a product called RMC cleaner. Basically, you put it through the engine via the air intake in a constant mist. The crap that used to come out of the exhaust was amazing.

This stuff was and is far superior to anything else you squirt through the engine. Primarily it's used to keep gas turbines clean and they're a bit more complicated than your average1.9 diesel.

The point I'm getting to is that I approached the manufacturer two years ago with a view to using RMC to clean 2 x 306hp engines in a boat I used to own. See http://www.r-mc.com/flash/home.htm

RMC said they would only supply a minimum of 100lt and that the automotive industry was so small when compared to power station market (in terms of cleaner required) that it wasn't worth their while. When they supply this cleaner for gas turbines, it's done in 100's of thousands of litres.

EDIT - see also RMC data sheet http://www.r-mc.com/pdf/Marine%20MSL.pdf

Thinking of all the EGR problems and coking up, this would the last thing you want in a gas turbine.

If someone wants to try and blag a few lites, please have a go as, if they will supply it, you'll be pretty amazed.

If I had a diesel car (or still had the boat), I resurrect this and see where it led.

Following on from http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86786, I thought I'd give this old thread a bump with a view to someone out there with a diesel contacting RMC .

I have never had an EGR problem. I use V Power diesel all the time, which keeps things all nice and clean.
