    Vehicle : Vectra GSi 3.2 V6

    Trim : GSi

    Engine : Z32SE

    Year : 2003

    Mileage : 212,060

    Default Wheel alignment setup

Having had my nearside front tyre wear its outer edge in about 7,000 miles , I took the hint and invested in a full setup for the GSi.

I took the car to Predator Motorsport in Welwyn Garden City. The setup cost £70 plus VAT, which was £82.25. For that, the workshop owner (I think ) took the car for a test drive to check for problems. He then put the car on the ramps, set it up on the Hoffman Dynaliner and took the car for a further test drive to let the new settings settle (it was way off - surprise, surprise... ). He then put the car on the ramps and set it up again to check that the settings had stabilised, followed by one last test drive.

It all took about an hour and the car is MUCH better. It does not follow ruts in roads anything like as much and feels more stable and planted than ever. I replaced the dodgy tyre about two weeks ago too, which will help. It has also sharpened the initial steering response.

Overall, I was very impressed with the attention to detail at Predator Motorsport. My experience with them was positive and I would recommend them to local members wanting wheel alignment checking.

Of course, I accept no liability for anyone else's experience of Predator Motorsport! But I'd definitely use them again in the future. They supply and fit tyres, exhausts and other stuff too. Check 'em out at http://www.predatormotorsport.co.uk/. I might even get them to do an exhaust for me for my other car...

Sounds like a good investment and good service. Pity I'm not closer to Herts as I'm sure my Elite could do with simlar treatment (but not at dealer prices!)

what's the best type of equipment to use for this, or are they all pretty much the same?

The reason i ask is a friend of mine has had a demo of a system to have installed at his workshop & will be looking to buy a good quality set up.

Hi can either of you give me a ball park figure for how much this may cost? (PM if need to).

Have received a quote from local alignment specialist detailing prices for alignment (£39.95 +VAT for each end) and camber adjustment (£24.95+VAT for each side) depending what is necessary. Or £19.95+VAT to check and make no adjustments. The garage is well known both personally and is recommended by others I know. But £150 sounds a bit steep for full alignment / camber adjustment.

    Any comments welcome.
