    Default Fuel consumption 2.2i Direct

I am averaging 26.7MPG in my 2.2i Direct SRi manaul according to the computer indication. Does this seem about right for 22 miles of country lane driving a day averaging 40 and driving like Miss Daisy.

The emissions light came on but I back up very close to a wall at work and it came on whilst idling there for a minute or so. It has come on once since for a day so I am starting to think they are related.

26.7 doesn't sound to bad for that kind of road with gear changes.
I'm on my second 2.2 now, love them, and not bothered about the fuel consumption, when the smoothness of the ride is so important to me.
However my last 2.2 was sold whilst i was waiting for the swirl valve and oxy sensor to be replaced, this of course activated the emissions light, and it started similar to yours,on then off, then on,then off for nearly a fortnight, then back on big time!
The consumption when i sold her was 21.5 to 23.1
This was because the swirl was knackered and the fuel/air mix all over the shop,so the car was using more fuel to compensate,i beleive they introduced the swirl to the later versions of the 2.2, to make the car more fuel efficient, obviously great when they work but.....when they don't it's a shocker!
Thankfully it's not a frequent problem and you shouldn't expect it more than once during yan average term of ownership.
Whilst driving put on your BC,and watch the screen when you can,the mpg figure on my old mota started jumping around all over the place,as it couldn't get an accurate reading. If yours starts doing something similar you could be looking at similar problems.Interestingly prior to my problems my mota also lowered to 26.1 to 26.3 and wouldn't rise for a couple of months before things got worse. If i was you i would get it into the stealers for a precautionary health check. The particular parts you'll need just don't seem to exist anywhere at the moment, and i sold the car still needing the parts six weeks after ordering them
Eight weeks on i went back to the stealers to give them my new car details, and to instruct them that i'd sold the previous car and where it was at so they could send the parts there, and they STILL hadn't got themThankgod i got rid, because every day you drive with a knackered oxy sensor, the risk of doing some serious damage to the cat just goes up and up

Our lass filled up at asda twice when she had the car and both times the light came on I told her not to use the asda fuel.

It never came on for about a month after that however its started to come on again .
