Default dreaded spanner light when accelerating

Hi all hope someone can help. I am getting the spanner light / limp mode coming on frequently when i accelerate from about 40 - 50 MPH in 4th / 5th gear. switching the ignition off and on seems to reset but it is a pain in the proverbial when it happens just as i am overtaking a big lorry or bus !!! caused me a near miss yesterday
any help would be much appreciated

With out having the fault codes read it's hard to say but a good guess would be MAF sensor / Air flow meter, depending on what folk like to call it.

Check intercooler hoses for splits and tightness (common fault).Could be boost sensor on turbo. But really you need to get the codes!
