Default Smoke under Bonnet after Glow Plug Change

    Hi,

Car has recently been returned after having EGR and all 4 injectors replaced because of excessive smoke on start up and very lumpy tick over.

Immediately there was a problem - the smoke had reduced but not gone and the tick over was still lumpy so took it back.

After an argument with the service desk guy (He didn't believe me) they booked it back in, had it a further 4 days and guess what - it was a dead Glow Plug! (soaked in diesel when they removed it!)

Now - they have replaced all the glow plugs and everything seems fine, no smoke on start up and smooth tick over BUT - now, when I have been driving and the engine is hot (3 Days on) i am now getting smoke under the bonnet just to the right of the black engine cover and it stinks of diesel. I took it back and was advised diesel gets spilt on Glow Plug changes and it will burn off as probably on the manifold.

Anyone got any experience of this or any thoughts as to what I can do?

A guy at work had a look and according to him (ex-mechanic) the glow plugs on the 1.9 120 are at the back of the engine near the top but under the common rail "stuff" my words not his. I suppose removing all that may have resulted in fuel spillage - who can tell! I rang them on way home tonight and was told to take it back and they would steam clean it again!

Can this really be excess diesel burning off or could I have a leak??

There is no drop in performance at all.......
