Yes it can be. The eco flex has a max of 30k or 2 years, if you fance leaving it that long that is
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

i might just cut that in half, always done 10000 miles on semi synthetic before and run cars to over 300,000 with no oil related problems so should be safe with fully and 15,000 miles

Get the garage to change the service interval display to fixed term instead of ECOService-Flex intervals.

Hi, being a keen user of diesels for nearly 10 years now and the advance oil and engine technology, i have found through experience and my bro being a mechanic for 15years, the best route, if its your own car that is!, is to service it every 10k or 1 year (oil that is) the rest can usually follow the service guide. I have found via company motors and my own, this is the best route. Albeit i did have all sorts of discussion about spending the companies money on un-secheuled oil changes, (some i even paid for myself) due to the type of mileage i did.
With all that in mind, i have (touching wood) had an engine issue, albeit a water pump in this time. in my new choosen career, i have to let the job sort this out and the cars, again diesel are thrashed 24hours aday, often astras and diesel, so they do go thorugh brakes, clutches and tyres, just having one done on a 57 astra with a 46k!.
to sum up, in my humble view, if you can afford it, a big issue i do understand in todays ever increasing mototing costs, change it once a year or circa 10k with the oil suggested here! you cant go wrong.
One piece of advise i was given by VX a week or so ago, after asking the clever g*ts here they said stick to VX 5w30, brought x2 gallons £42 online! but VX said they only use this spec for the 1st 3 years...aarrgghh, then its over to semi-syn 10-40 after 3years, hmm just out of warranty!
i know what i will be asking for!.
Hope this helps a little.... all the best.

wouldnt trust a dealer to pump up me tyres never mind do the oil, always done them myself. it takes me longer to get me overalls on than do the change itself, mind you i always end up doing mine hers brothers dads and the odd mate or two, lawn mower and motor bike all at the same time so if im not doing mine quite so regularly then i cant be doing theres either. normally do 5-6 changes a year. most of fthe people i work with doing 50.000+ do 1-2 changes a year and still dont have oil related problems so it makes you wonder how many miles you can do on a oil change. how many miles do hgv's do before they are serviced???????

i agree... as soon my car has been out of warranty i have done them myself. when mineral oil was the norm, i used to do it every 6months or 6k, but now i use fully even though its a mix of mineral and fully, and do it once a year... it really depnds on on type of driving, i do loads of short runs and a few long ones, hence my reasoning, but in reality if doing 90% of motorway runs then it would last longer, but i never used flushes etc.. just oil from the tub.
Best to go with your gut feeling i found and whats best on the ground. my 1st vx service is due in a few months, cant wait to see how much they will charge for Oil + Filter.. LOL...
