Thread: car not right after dealer service , where do i stand ?

    Default car not right after dealer service , where do i stand ?

    had my 04 cdti sri for a full service on thursday but few hours later when car warmed up i noticed a loud groan comming from the front right whenbreaking hard its kind of a gradual noise as best described like a wheel bearing groan, all is fine when normal driving and breaking ie gentley but when breaking hard it happens, ive let the dealer know before they say it happened after ive had it back a while but the service dept is closed untill tuesday, where do i stand on this issue as it was not there before ?

    If possible take the car to them first thing on Tueday morning, just as they open
    If not, then phone them up on Tuesday, advise it has just been serviced and it was returned with a fault
    They should ask you to bring the car back as soon as so that they can inspect it, or to book it in when convenient

    I'm presuming they had the brakes stripped down on service?

    If so, sounds like they have got a stone/bit of rust or something trapped in the anti-squeel gap on one of the pads. when you brake it rubs on the disc and gives a rumble/grind noise like a wheel bearing.

    10 minute job to fix and they should do it for you without question.

    Take it back mate!... if it was ok before, then its something they have done, but my view is always be polite 1st! explain the issue and why your not happy, ask them for an action plan, also for them to check it before you leave to ensure its nothing to worry about. (if you have to book it in), but as already been said it sounds like a simple fix, new pads?
