    Default FAO any coppers

    Hi guys

Just got a ticket for using my phone whilst driving. I know I was in the wrong and this isn't a thread asking how I get out of it etc. I'm happy to take the £60 and 3 points!

However, the nice chap that pulled me, issued me a ticket, explaining where the address was to send the fine to etc. Unfortunatly, he gave me the white 'policve copy', rather than the yellow copy...the white copy doesn't have the address on, or any other information for that matter.

Where do I stand, and what can I do?

Then you probably got away with it as he has nowhere to write his evidence.

Bottom line, he should has issued the ticket correctly.

It's quite probable he may nip around your house and swap the tickets over. Doesn't negate the offence I'm afraid. A FPN is only a conditional offer.

He'd have to travel accross three counties first?!

As it is though, I can't pay the fine as I don't know where to send the cheque.

When the ticket is issued you should be asked if you want to surrender the licence to the officer. If you refuse then you can surrender it to the police station you attend with your documents within 7 days. If you surrender the licence at the roadside the officer notes the details on the yellow copy which in effect becomes your licence until it returns from DVLA with the points on it.

If you do not surrender your licence at either stage then you automatically go to court and you are not suitable for the FPN system.

Then he was useless as he shouldn't have accepted half a licence as there is a possibility they will never meet up.

As MLC says one way or other he will contact you.
