    Default Thinking of a change...

Anyone else taken by the new Astra SRi's?

I was thinking about getting my own car anyway, getting bored of company cars and not being able to do anything with them etc etc...... am seriously considering the new Astra SRi.

Either that or cheaper option go for a Bertone Coupe like this:

You can pick one up for about 7k with 20,000 miles - would leave lots of money for some tasty mods.

Will you all still talk to me??? lol

If i were you mate, id go for the coupe, as the new shape astra is too new for there to be a wide enough choice of mods. All ive seen available for the new astra is the irmscher splitter, side skirts and rear spoiler.

The pic of the coupe above is the 2.0 Turbo version, and its in the best colour!

Although if you get the new SRi, you get 19" wheels (extra option). Also my local dealer has an offer on at the moment, if you buy an astra SRi Sporthatch (3 door) then you can pay an extra £975 and get the VXR Kit fitted. Total would be around £18,500, so consider the saving over a real VXR!

Think theres only the 1.9 CDTi SRi available at the moment in 3 or 5 door, could be wrong though!

I quite like the Astra Coupe, nearly got one instead of the Vectra 3 years ago, but I was put off by the interior, specially the dash and centre console

its horrible and leaves alot to be desired. I think it puts down an otherwise brilliant car, I'm seriously considering the new Astra, possibly in the summer, in 3 door Sri guise.

You can only option 18" rims on the Sport Hatch and £18.5K isn't a saving over a VXR at all. Not when you can order on online for £16.7K!

You're right about the rims Simon, but where do you get the £16.7K for the VXR from? Even with the VIP (Vauxhall Internet Price) it was coming up at £18,995 - exactly the same as the RRP!!

You could get a Focus ST 3 for the same price. Electric leather Recaros, Xenons, CD changer etc. All of which add about 2 grand on to a VXR's price.
