Default groaning when braking hard ?

had my 04 cdti sri for a full service yesterday but few hours later when car warmed up i noticed a loud groan comming from the front right whenbreaking hard its kind of a gradual noise as best described like a wheel bearing groan, all is fine when normal driving and breaking ie gentley but everynow and again when breaking hard it happens , anyone any ideas before i phone the dealers as the service was a full one inc brakefluid ect.

i have the same problem with my car, it is fine during normal gentle breaking, but after several relatively harsh brakes, the front end seems to groan. But after the car is turned off for a while, it seems to go back to normal. I too, have noticed this after an brake fluid change recently!
I had this checked out at the local garage, thinking it was something to do with my brake calipers/discs, but they couldnt find a thing!

Hope someone can help us out!

It sounds like the same problem I was having due to worn discs, only did it after hard braking or being on the brakes for a longer time like slowing for a roundabout etc.

Now i've got new discs fitted (courtesy of Drinky ) they feel much better although i've been taking it easy and only done about 50 miles on them.

How worn are your discs STAV ?

Any other resolutions to this? I have briefly exmained my discs and have run my finger along them and they seem OK. Only does when heavily braking for a few times, gentle braking seems fine!?

i took me car to vx last week told them the situation and left it there, 3 hours later a mechanic phones me and said they had it on a run ( 3 miles ) and had it on the ramps but could find no problems, so i insisted on a test run with them , that afternoon took it out up and down some hills , sharp bends hard breaking and ................................nowt not a sausage...how embarrased was i telling the whole story to the guy but fair play to him he understood especially as noises are a hard thing to describe if you carnt hear them so he said to bring it in as soon as it happens again and he will come straight out with me , so i suppose the good news is all seem fine untill something breaks , had a good chat about the egr valves though, still none in stock. if anyone solves this one let me know chaps please as my discs are fine .
