confused Got a computer problem, can anyone help?

I have Nero 8 on my PC with Winrar, I've dowloaded a small file containing a .cue file along with a .bin file which I opened using Winrar ( I think!) I followed the instructions given with it to open Nero and try to burn the .cue file to CDr but each time it comes up with an error message 'unexpected file format'.

Am i doing something wrong, I have read othe entries on the net where people were successful but I can't seem to get it to work, can anyone give me some advice?

I don't have Nero 8, but assume it's similar to my Nero 6.

Open up Nero and if you get a little wizard at the beginning, just cancel that. On the menu bar at the top click 'Recorder' move down to 'Burn Image' then navigate to your .cue file and select that. It should then go through the process of getting you to burn the file. I don't have anything to hand to go further than that, but I can't see it being too complicated.

Hi, I've been trying that, it brings up the path to the file and states that it cannot open the .bin file, then another message pops up stating that it can't access the .cue file, Ive been trying this for days now and know it's something I'm doing wrong, just can't work it out!

Is it a file you've downloaded? If you've got a link for it I'll have a look and see if there's a problem..

Have you tired deleting the bin/cue file and then re-extracting them from the .rar file (if I've read your post right!!)?

Ok, I just downloaded it, extracted it and went through the above process with my Nero 6 and it got to the stage where it wanted to burn. The only reason it stopped is because I don't have a spare CD-R (or RW) to actually burn the image to. But it appears to be working for me.

What I'd recommend is re-downloading again but saving to a different location, and then extracting to a different location, just to make sure it's a completely fresh file. Should that not work, if you can get your hands on an older copy of Nero (Like I say, I'm using 6). OR, another method could be to use a different program altogether. There'll be applications around specifically for Cue/Bin burning which may well do the trick for you...

OR, if you're just needing the file for the computer you're currently on (Which, judging by the file download itself is unlikely), then you could use a Virtual Drive to fool your computer into thinking it's running a disk.

    Sure, no problem.

    A. Open Nero. (Nero 6 Ultra Edition >> Nero Burning Rom)
    B. When open I get a 'New Compliation' box pop up with several options. I just cancel that and I'm left with a grey screen with the menu bar at the top.
C.Click on 'Recorder' and scroll down to 'Burn image'
    D. Little window will pop up for you to browse through to your files. Find the folder where you extracted the Bin/Cue file. And select the .cue file. (You'll know it's the right one as it SHOULD be the only option that's available to select)
    E. Once you've slected and opened the .cue file another window will pop up 'Burn Compliation' Select your regular disk burning settings (Personally, I have 'Write' and Finalize CD (No further writing possible) selected - Burn speed of 40x (will vary depending on your disk burning device).. A write method of Disk at Once and one copy.
    F. Click burn.

That's where it kicks the CD out for me and tells me to put a readable disk in, but like I say, that's purely because I don't have an actual CDR/RW in my drive.
