    Default Oil change needed.

    guys i need to do an oil change on my 1.9cdti 150 bhp vectra on sat. what i need to know is how much oil do i need. also im putting 5w30 into it as this is what i was told it needed. but any brand better than other. what about the engine flush you can put into the car anyone recommend it or not put it in. also whats torque settings for the sump plug and oil filter and i take it there isnt a special tool for the oil filter appart from the normal one?

    Be prep'd for a tight sump plug, best way is to use a small bar with your other hand supporting the torx bit in the sump nut, doing it up is just a matter of doing it up but don't over tighten it, can't comment on the filter, flush it if it's low miles or always been done, if unsure don't or you will pull all the muck into the oilways and cause a potential blockage, if you have the belly pan, support it when you undo it or it will drop and rip, 160 to replace, and finally the 5/30 GM oil is the one to use, 24 if you can get it trade.

    ok well i dont know if it has ever been done as bought it with 24000 miless and now oin 34000miles so i should leave it then? how much oil is needed? should i buy a new sump plug and washer or not needed?

    Washer yes, they're buttons to buy, I'd still flush it at that miles tbh.

    ok ill get the washer and the flush and the filter ok. but still any idea on how much oil is needed?

    Don't for god sake flush it. Seriously. The number of perfectly good Vauxhall engines I've seen totally screwed up due to unnessecary flushing.

    You need 4.25litres of oil. Pick up a filter, sump plug and washer (the plug always ******s up when the dealers are shut).

    As for oil all you need is a 5W30 fully synthetic. Personally I'm using Comma 5W30 Long-Life stuff, was £21+VAT for 5 litres (leaves enough for topups if required). Got it and the filter (Bosch) from Woodstock Autoparts (in that little industrial estate at the bottom of the Ravenhill Rd, beside CEF).

    Flushing is only bad if it's done when the cars not had it done before and the mileage is 40k+

    Use the VX Fortron one though, don't stick a motor factor special in it, I've pretty well always flushed mine to keep the hydraulic side of things clean and had no problems, but this has always been from around 20k.
