You should get away with a good rub down with some wet & dry ending with 1200 and then a grey primer. Some more 1200 wet & dry then the colour. A quick 1200 wet & dry then a few coats of laquer

Just a bit of advice here but you should never flat basecoat metallic.
After you've applied the blue then all you need to do is lacquer directly over it without touching it to avoid scratches, oil from your hands etc.

Don't leave it overnight either before you lacquer. You want to be putting it on no more than an hour after the blue has gone on really, to ensure good adhesion.
