Hi everyone - had a few probs!

I've just found this club site while looking to find out how common my car's (well, my wife's car, actually) symptoms are ...and am already impressed. Really professionally set up, and more people online most of the time than visit my own car club website in a week.

Our 53 reg Signum 3.2 V6 Elite was bought at 11 months old and 6000miles from Vauxhall's fleet, and came with a Network Q warranty, which we're so relieved we extended. We like the car a lot - a jewel of an engine and transmission, and it looks purposefully elegant in a grown-up sort of way, not arsey like an Astra and just about every other new car today. (Hope I'm not upsetting too many people here!) We liked the idea of a bit of German engineering without the usual badges (have considered a full-house W12 VW Phaeton as a possible replacement), and we'd never buy any car just on a quality assessment - it has to have the right personality. Signums are still not a common sight, and we settled on one after spotting the late Gerry Marshall at Castle Combe in his silver DTV 1.

Drawbacks? Well, mainly durability, but there are some design blindspots, aren't there, some of which involve the attractive upright tailgate, which you can't open if you've reversed back to a bollard. The body shell can't be too stiff because the boot cover blind creaks all the time, like the targa roof of an old Fiat X19, and the back window constantly soils itself and then drips dirty water all over you when it's opened.

Can't praise the Network Q warranty too much, and we wouldn't have wanted to have had to get by without it - two sat-navs at £1,300 each plus fitting, intermittent power steering failure and heating/climate control fixed, and, last week, two (yes, two!) broken front springs diagnosed and replaced. Having read some postings here, it can't be long before we'll be needing a steering rack, either - my Tatra T613 has an Astra-based rack (on a 5.1 metre 1.8 tonne car!) and they're rubbish, with no proper bushing ...usually good for than 50k tops, if you're lucky.

Anyway, I've got some reading to do here, so I'll let you get on!

Thanks, you two! Actually, I'm Ian T too, so it's lucky I chose a different user name.

Forgot to mention that we've had to have the radiator mounts fixed, and the Signum failed its first MoT on a track rod end that was replaced, like everything else, with no arguments.

I've already discovered from this site that we must have the auto-window closing feature - have to wait for wife to get back, and try it out!
