Default GoodYear Tyre Question Regarding Sizes !!

I need to buy 4 new tyres for the car, I need 2 for the front of the car asap and I will need 2 more for the back in less than 2 months time. I want a good half decent make as I drive around 18,000 miles a year.

My current tyre size is 215 / 50 / 17 I have looked online and seen Good year NCT 5's for £364 all in and fitted.

However I have read on the forums that some people have bought and used Goodyear Eagle F1 GS03 the tyre size being 225 / 45 / 17. I can get these fitted for £372.

Both tyres are being sourced from Blackcircles. Does anyone know anywhere cheaper ??

If I was to change all the tyres to 225 / 45 / 17 how will this affect my car, I know the tyres are going to be broader and also more low profile, but what will that mean for me as owner of car ??? Will the car feel any different in driving ?? etc etc

    Cheers for that link.

With me changing tyre size completely, what does that mean ?? Will the car feel any different in driving from my old size 215 / 50 / 17 ??

Maybe a slightly firmer ride, but nothing too drastic. The speed will be slightly out as well, mine is about 5mph slower with the 225's

I am amazed you can get four NCT5 tyres for £364 as they are normally about £115 each
The F1 GSD3 is normally much cheaper at about £90 each
If you can get the NCT5 for that price, I'd stay with that
The reason being is that the F1 GSD3 is about to be phased out and the NCT5 has a slightly better ride quality

Camskill still have them at £69.50. The £79 price is for the XL (extra load) ones.

Since I got rid of 2 of my NCT5's (215/50/17) and fitted 2 F1 GSD3's (225/45/17) the handling of my car has improved 100%. See http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=42440 for more info.

As said, your speedo will slightly over-read if fitted on the front. At 70mph (indicated speedo reading) my sat nav says I'm doing 67 mph.

Just looked again and realised what confused me.

Agree with you as well on the handling, so much better than the NCT's, but softer as well remember. I've worn mine down quite a lot in the 2months they've been on, but it's all down to how you drive

Press and hold down the Settings button until 'testmode' appears on the display. Release settings button and then press the Nav button and you can scroll through the hidden menus. Also some more hidden menus can be found by pressing the the Audio and BC buttons.

To exit 'testmode' either press and hold down the settings button again or remove the ignition key.
