    Default upgrade rear brakes?

i have noticed that some of the guys have been talkin in the 314mm thread about changin the rear brakes for larger ones and that all is needed is new bigger pads new bigger disks and different hub carriers but using the same rear brake calipers. is this correct and has anyone done it yet?

I don't know about using the same callipers but bigger discs are really only a cosmetic upgrade as 90% of the braking is done by the front brakes - I doubt anyone would see any improvement in braking efficiency by fitting larger discs on the back

Apparently it is correct, You only need the cailper carriers and new discs, I guess that as the sizes are not that different, the standard rears on mine are 278mm (or 279mm?? ) and the bigger rear discs are 292mm.. The calipe carriers are around £34 ea from LMF.. I'll be doing mine shortly, just need to make my mind up what disc's im going to order for front and rear..

As Ian said, its only cosmetic on the rears, my new wheels make the rear discs look small, hence why im changing them..

Hmmm. Just ordered some Vx replacement rear discs for my GSi. I've asked for them to be grooved for an extra £35, the total bill for the Vx pads & grooved diiscs is £130 delivered.

How much more would the discs be if I ask them to upgrade me to 292mm + the caliper brackets?

Just seen that you say the brackets are £34 each... That's another £68 + the extra cost of the discs & weight in postage
