dear oil !! cheap oil !!

Hi
Been changing engine oil every 5k miles always use Mobil fully synthetic oil, i have been told oil should be good for 20k but i would never run 20k without changing oil, do you guys think i should use cheaper oil if i am changing it so often or stick with the expensive stuff ? siggy has only done 20k so going to do 4th change soon

I put mobil one our Vectras, but I change it every Ten Thousand, I put it in the wifes Vectra too and change that at Ten Thousand too.

So long as you are using fully synthetic oil and it mees the GM or ACEA rating, then the brand doesn't matter

If you think 20K miles is long for an oil and filter change, then how do you think owners of 3.0 V6 CDTI on ecoflex feel, with an interval of 30K miles!

Thats the sentiment I use...

Cheap oil won't protect your car like a good oil can...Stick to a GOOD oil at a reasonable price and avoid big bills in the longerterm..

My wife drives a (Escort 1.6 Finese Petrol) OK keep it quiet - what grade of oil should we use in that?

Any suggestions?

10w-40 and then liberally coat the outside with 95 octane,light match and stand well back.

If it's a Zetec then you must use the approved grade ( 0w30 i beleive) as they are very sensitive to their oil..if it's not a zetec then 5w30 will do in it..

i have always serviced my diesel car regardless 1 year or 10k... its worked for me for the last 8-9 years... i used to yse shell oil, at 1st semi as that was the most common but now fully syn is reasnoably cheap i now use this.. GM oil on my vec or mobile 1 or shell longlife fully on my BMW (no comments please). so stick with that it will save you in the long run, 10k or a 1 year has always done be good! :-)
