Thats a joke, the car pass should be £15ish, the key is £37.50 plus the vat and about 10 mins to code it. The only problem is they need to see the V5 and I think have the car. Call round the area to see what dealers want what.

They will need proof that it's your car, even if you have the Car Pass - those prices are taking the pee! - coding should be £10-15 + VAT. They'll also need to have the car to Tech 2 the key to the car.

Shop around is the basic answer.

lol, my prices were exactly as you said mate. £37.50 + VAT for the key fob all cut with key (that's the retail price so if a dealer is quoting more than that they're taking the pee), plus £10-15 + VAT for the coding - makes it around £65 all in. The Car Pass is obviously the other expense, but he'll need that to get the keys done.

£45 for the coding is taking the pee big time.

Will the VX helpline help me or can dealers charge what they want?

That was my local dealer, but any decent Vx dealer will charge the same prices, The key price is a retail price, should be charged the same by any dealer. It's the coding that they can vary on as it's a labour/Tech 2 time - but given that it takes 5 mins to code a key then any more then £10-15 + VAT for that is taking the pee.

You could try Ian at MPG. If he can do it don't forget to mention the club.
