Default Pics of more goodies for engine!

    Hi all,

Had some more goodies for the engine arrive the other day. A new throttle body for the 2.4 engine (standard diameter 58mm, 2.4 diameter 65mm), and some injectors from the 2.0 SC engine!

Won't be able to fit the TB until the boffins sort out the ecu errors, but I have no doubt it won't be long. And I will have the injectors fitted after the other mods as they have to be mapped in, they should stop the engine running lean near the 200bhp mark.

Thanks again to Rushy for the heads up on helping me find some for sale!

Now your singing from my hymn sheet!
Please keep me posted with this one, apart from 3.2v6 owners,we have the best engine on the forum by a very long way,we have unfortunatley been placed almost a little underground if you like by the marketing onslaught and subsequent numerous ownership of the 1.9cdti.
Now the price of diesel is silly,(lets face it anyone who bought an oil burner was falling into the governments trap),the 2.2 is starting it's rise through the forum, and those of us who own one know exactly why!!!
The very greatest of respect to you mate, and lets hope you'll be the first of many,to show those who thought the 2.2 was too hard to tune up,that of course they were wrong!!!

Rushy,i'm just up the road in Middlesbrough as you know, and have just replaced the star silver for a 56 plate colour navi face lift.
I've got Manf warranty till sep 09 now, will buy NQ warranty then.
Question 1: Do these parts shown invalidate warranty?
and Question 2: If so are they detectable?
And Question 3: who round this way could fit them to work?

The TB is just bolt on and plug in, 15 mins job, but at the moment its going through some problems with the values its sending the ECU. The way hey are trying to get round it is by a set of resistors in the loom, its been running fine on a stock 2.2 but not on a tuned one. The injectors wont be that hard to fit yourself with a Haynes manual a ive seen many guys pull them out to fit the manifold. I'd imagine they would invalidate your warranty as your tuning just like a map.
The thing is all these mods are tried and tested on the 2.2se not your 2.2yh. Not much difference in the lump apart from air/fuel mixing and breathing but these mods are intended to alter just that so what might work so far on the se might not work on the yh. The TB is only needed for 170 bhp and above with the injectors needed nearer the 200bhp mark. Vid has spent £1000's so far, Inlet manifold, zorst manifold, custom down pipe with sports cat, custom zorst, cams, TB, and injectors and no doubt the last thing on his list will be a map. If the guys on the 2.2 forum can sort the resistors then no doubt Vid can get a map from who he likes but if its not sorted then Courtney might be his only solution and thats big bucks.
With the se being in so many cars development is on the up, Courtney also have a VX220 2.2 program running so there pushing things along as well but as of yet ive seen nothing for the direct, im not even sure if its going to be in the Insignia as I here there putting the 1.6 turbo from the Corsa VXR in which runs more power than the yh.
All I could say is get yourself on the 2.2 board and take it from there. THB I couldn't tell you if the injector are even in the same place on the direct just because of the direct injection that it runs, if they fit then its just a case of mapping them in, but there goes your warranty.

PS, sorry for the hijack Vid, you know how I like talking 2.2.

As always Rushy a thorough reply, and a very interesting read. I had no idea the Direct was at present so restricted on tuning choice compared to the older block.

Thankfully i have people like you on the forum that can help me to live'n'learn

If i hadn't have spent thousands on my house, then maybe the car would have got it!

But I've got new electrics that won't kill me,(thanks to the previous owner who had a death wish)and plastered walls you could buff your nails on! So every cloud......

Thanks again and i'll keep my eyes open for direct mods.....

I know mate No worries, good comprehensive read there mate. Haven't got the cams in just yet, but hopefully not too far away.

Sparky, you are right about 2.2's being understated!

    Cheers guys!
