    confused Mtec Help???

I just bought a second hand Mtec HID lighting kit and i notice that the bulbs do not lock into place in the headlight. Not a huge problem as i have taped them in place with electrical tape.

Does the bulb have to sit a certain way in the headlamp for the beam to be correct or does the projector lens align the beam no matter what way the bulb is positioned?

    Thanks in advance

    Keith

The original clip does hold the bulb in a certain way, hence the flat on the bulb, can't you use the original clip? or if not HIDS4U sell split clips to fit the vec.

The HIDS4U split clips are ok but they still need a fair bit of bending & shaping to make them fit - I don't know how much a pair of Vx clips cost but I reckon it would be easier to split the OE clips & refit them.

so.... I can take the original clips off the loom and they should fit ok?
I think i'm gonna have to remove the headlights to get more room.

Will I need to remove the bumper to remove the headlights?

    Thanks

The original clips should fit iirc ... and headlamp removal is a bumper off job, but it is easy, a how 2 somewhere on the site ..

Mine is a pre f/l & I didn't remove the headlights, just the airbox.

You should be able to use the OE clips - if the bulbs are permanently wired as are those from HIDS4U you'll need to split the clip on one side otherwise just slide them over the bulb.

yes i catch your drift mate my bulbs are permanently wired. i'll have a look at them again when i get a spare minute. I think my way of using electrical tape to keep the bulbs in place is a bit rough lol

They come as part of the kit otherwise I would've modified the original or bought Vx repacements - I think I'd cut the originals & then try to superglue a bit of feeler guage over the gap to make them more rigid again as they take a fair bit of hammer twisting them into place
