    Default Vectra Performance?

I'm interested to hear the views others hold with regards to the performance of their Vectras. Whether it be a 1.8,diesel or 3.2 it would good to get a feel for how you rate accelaration mid-range and in gear pull from your Veccy. I have a 3.2 GSi and in the most part find the accelaration rapid and the midrange very strong, however this all happens without the driver really feeling part of it ie very refined. This is not a bad thing but sometimes I underestimate how quick the car actually is until I floor it up a mway slip road and hit silly speeds. Overall I feel the car is very quick but quite subtle in its delivery. How do others find their models of veccys or signum in these departments?

    Evening Mike,

Find my 3.2 very quick, although sometimes a little slow in throttle responce. OK up to around 2900 rpm, then it really picks up. Rolling road resilts....
    40-60 = 4.3 sec
    60-80 = 3.8 sec
    80-100= 4.7 sec
    100-120=5.4 sec

General driving it is quick. Should I wish to floor it I'll keep the revs high, but not much need for this as not too many boy racers with anything worthy round here.

I'm assuming that it's okay for us mere Signums to post in here - given the title!!?

Before the remap, my 2.0T was pretty quick. After the remap it is very quick indeed.

Off the line it's not the quickest, as it is a heavy car, but it's midrange pull is fantastic. This is where it wipes the smile off the face of a driver of a 'better' car. In third it just goes off like a rocket - love it!!!

Just the other day I was joining the A14 towards Felixstowe from the Nacton junction (you may know the one Trel?). You drive up the sliproad as it's an elevated section at that point - I floored it and by the time I had joined the main carriageway and looked down at my speedo I was doing 95!! Oops, i thought as I slowed down to something less license losing!!

I just have to make sure that I don't get caught out in the wrong (i.e. too high) a gear if I want to boot it, as the revs won't get high enough, quickly enough for the turbo to really make it's presence known. It will still pull nicely, but if I want to really accelerate quickly, I need to drop it a gear if I'm pootling along.

Oh I know that junction (Sevenhills) Duncan as it my main route back from most places near Ipswich. Most frustrating is those slow cars which do not keep left. When they do, up that sliproad 3rd to 80 before you reach the A14, 4th at 105, then 5th....now were were those slow cars on the left.
Never seen the old bill on that section. They hang around Copdock to Sevenhills, especially speed camera at the garage by Orwell Bridge, back of the lorry park so hard to see, unless you are local.

You mean the BP Garage/Mc D's area (for the speed cameras)? Not that there's much chance to go quickly over the Orwell Bridge at the moment with thos damn roadworks and 40 limit (with SPECS monitoring it as well!!)

The junction I was referring to is the one that you would join from Marshalls - that's the one you meant?

Meanwhile back on thread topic (get a room) LOL

I thought my 1.9 CDTi 150 was reasonably quick until I've had this Tuning Box fitted. The traction control is finding it very hard to keep the front wheels spinning in 1st and 2nd gear.

It drives like a pertrol in my opinion and the power is almost instant. What with the torque of the diesel and the turbo, it's very easy to pull away from most cars even in 6th. All this and still getting 40 - 45mpg.

By far the best car i've owned, by a long way.

mines a complete barge. Its slow off the line, its midrange to redline is noisy and harsh and you really know that your giving it some. Its no quicker than 99% of other average family cars on the road today. (mind you i did waste a BMW 325TD last week)

But hey, if i wanted performance i would have bought the octavia VRS we also looked at.

Dont get me wrong, its not slow, the late 8's to 60 prove that, it just feels like it doesnt really like being driven hard. (i wont mention how the suspension is a little hard sometimes)

LOL....Have you ever driven a 1.8???? thats the barge of the family!!

Don't get me wrong, if you keep the revs high it can keep up quite well but it doesn't like a fast gear change...

I think my 2.2 Direct is reasonably nippy. It seems to go better than the old 2.2 as it has a bit more bhp and torque, think its about 0.6 quicker 0-60. Its soooooooooooo much better than my old Mondeo 2.0 LX. Such a boring car (even though it was a Y plate new shape). When I had the Mondeo, a remember having a couple of Vectras to test and I really didnt want to get back into the Mondeo. Not particularly quick and the Vec C 2.2 Direct is much quicker.
The 2.2 feels quite "torquey" to drive, in fact the guy from the Vx garage that dropped it off when it had work done thought it was a diesel!! I get around 34mpg so not too bad for a petrol with reasonable performance.
