Default Alloys and tyre suggestions please...........

Since the remap I feel I need better tyres than the 215/50/17 Goodyear NCT;s that I have on the moment.

    Should I:

    1.change to 18 or 19 inch alloys

    2. Look for a 235 width tyre instead of 225 or the current 215 fitted.

If I go for 235 will they fit without snaging the bodywork as the car has been lowered (Eibach springs)?

    3. What tyre brand would you recommend

    All ideas please

I'm now running Triple Troubles old Irmy wheels. 18's, 235/40/18. They are a better ride than my old 17's. Although its not lowered I don't think it would catch if it was dropped 30mm. As per tyre choice, falkens, Yoko's, Goodyears.....

I have 18's and I think that size is about right. I prefer alloys that don't show off the small brakes. If you have big brakes (I hope you do after the remap) then you need to show them off.

I would like to know what the tramlining would be like at 19 inch or do people play around with the toe & camber settings and drop the tyre pressure?

Id say 19's the rolling diameter is slighty larger. Pretty sure the 17's and 18's with tyre sizes are basically the same.
19's do look good looks wise too
As for lowering i have had mine lowered 45mm and i reckon you could go lower even more without having any tyre rub/scrub issues

Looking at the VX manual the VXR sits on 235/40/18 or 235/35/19, the highest in the manual for 19DTH is 225/45/18 fitted as standard. I think unless someone does a really good deal on 19's (hint hint) I will look for 235/40/18's as I do 30k a year and the 19's might be getting a bit more expensive. So now its down to tyre brand.

Yep big brakes and Eibach sports dampers and eibach 30mm lowering springs. All done before the remap. Got to do things right!

No point in having the power if u cannot stop just need the wheels to give me better traction.

The 19`s rolling radius is exactly the same as the 17`s , just a lot harder *lol* , with 18`s you need to be putting on 45`s or you are run ning a smaller radius, therefore affecting speedo / acceleration etc slightly. I would reccomend 18`s, though at the moment i am toying with 19`s again as well , all for vanity of course !!
