    Default boot stuck

    Hi chaps,
thank god I have a siggy, even with the above problem, still managed to get me golf clubs out of the boot!!

read a thread about opening the boot, which I have done with a screw driver through the rubber grommet hole but what next and how long a job is it. do i have to completly remove the inside boot panel or do you just spray wd40 up into the lock.

Currently every time I unlock the whole car the boot catch half opens (big sounding clonk) but doesnt release all the way so I have to push it closed - any ideas what this could be?

    Its on a 53plate siggy.

    Cheers

    SB

allow about an hour to do the job.. remove all the boot carpet/trim and access the lock.. it will be dry in the slides. Normally some heavy spray grease on the lock slide will make it work 100% again....if it won't release properly after this treatment then it's a new latch for you.

Have you tried to push down the boot while unlocking it...never know...might do the trick

Sounds like a sticky ball bearing on the tailgate handle - the bit that pushes onto the boot release micro-switch. Had this happen to me.

That thread should explain it all.

that wouldn't cause the boot to fail to open thou D..he says it clunks to open but the latch isn't releasing, so it sounds like the solenoid is firing, but the latch is binding.

Thanks for the info guys, been busy the last few weeks but finally managed to get round to looking at this in more detail.

Though I had found the problem, so I ordered a new boot lock - put it on still no difference.

Will try and look into the ball bearing thingy over the weekend whilst I still have all the trim of.

Wierd just started to happen on my car too...

I think it is the switch as there is no 'play' or movement behind the rubber.

when I get a chance will have a look see at it.

From what I can gather it must due the winter weather, I took the boot switch out as described earlier and the ball bearing was full of water and sludge, cleaned and sprayed some wd40 on it and its fine now
