Interior Rear View Mirror question

Hello,

Right I need some help once again lol

the interior rear view mirror, has the rain sensor with it, and anti dazzle as well i think,

now in the middle of it, underneath i light comes on, now at first i thought this was when i turned my headlights on, but no comes on sometimes but not others, then i though when it goes dark must come on wrong again?

any help on what this is supposed to be?

i thought it was just a comfort light ,for shining on the gear knob

I have one in my car and it is to illuminate the centre fascia when it goes dark, so you just don't see the orange slots, circles and digits.

pretty well i think mate,b4 i put mine in the gear area is virtually invisible in the dark

so does it come only when it is dark outside or something?

Yes the mirror detects when the light level drops low enough to switch it on.

Is it possible to change the light for a blue one? Anyone attempted this?

don't think it's been done as the mirror is a sealed unit??
