    Default 120 CDti MPG

How much MPG should I be getting from City driving around Birmingham, loads of stop start driving and hardly getting into 5th gear with lots of short runs thrown in. I'm worried as I seem to be getting low to mid 30's. Is this normal for this type of driving. Or could there be another problem. I've just had it serviced by the way and my claculations aren't from a trip computer. TIA

My 150 cdti is the same around town and only comes into its own on a run. You are doing better than a petrol as mine previous car got 25-30 around town (1.8sxi).

Sounds about right. If you're doing mainly stop-start driving you don't really benefit from the economy of a diesel engine.

Same here, I got a CDTI 120 on a 2004, MPG reads about 38, but thats a few days after coming off a run, I normally stick £20.00 in and then refill at 120mile or so. Does that sound about right too? Cheers.

    confused

My previous car was a Vecy-b, 1.8 Petrol, to £20.00 i used to count myself lucky if I got 80 miles, so if I now get 120 ish, I aint complaining. I guess it depends on driving style too. Also, by using Cruise on a run, does that increase the fuel consumption???

On a run using cruise, i have found it does use more fuel... but if using good old foot control it does give better but not much to scream about!. £37 of diesel to portsmouth and back from brum area.

Does me fine... im no heavy right foot person, but i like to strech on the motorway where its safe to do so... but i do try and travel through brum off peak, that may have something to do with it though.

I had a Vecy-B up until last week, a 2.2 SRI DTI, so far i found that the b was more economical, this seems a little heavy at the moment, but ive only been driving it under a week so need to get used to it i suppose. With the Vec-B, i used to get easy 120 to £20.00, with at leat a good 10-20 miles left for more around town use, with the C, ive so far put in £20.00 twice and seem to be panicking when I get to 110-115 miles as the !!! RANGE !!! begings to flash in my face!
