    Default ****** Brakes!

    hi all,

    help help help.

front brakes - they work fine but some days they sound like the brake pads aint got any meat on em.
    wots going on?

i fitted new front discs and pads from dealers about 3 months ago.

the sound is hard to explain.

i have done a test down a quiet road and the abs comes on ok and they pull me up no problem.

    cheers.

    kev bux.

Is this noise apparent after the car has stood over night Etc ??
If so it could be the damp in the atmosphere creating a film of rust/oxidisation on the discs & the metal content within the friction material on the pads, Mine does this in a morning for the first few presses, especially when it has been damp Etc.

    ok, cheers lads.

i will have a look at them at weekend, not doing it all the time. i put some copper grease on the back of the front pads about a month ago and that stopped the squeaking but that has also reappeared.

i will keep you all posted.

    thanks again.

    ok,

had time after work to have a look. removed the calipers and re copper greased the back of the pads and everything else that was mentioned in the previous replys. put it all back together and went out for a test run.

feels and sounds ok but need to potter around town in the car were there will be a lot of pulling away and pulling up to get them warm cos the sound i described seems to only appear this way.

will see how i get on. cheers lads.
