    confused CDTI 120 Cambelt change

Hmm - Vx say 80k or 8 years for a 2004 CDTI 120 cambelt change. But as I keep reading on here people are being told 40k now.

The local Vx dealer here are still sayin 80k or 8 years!

As mine is nearly 4 years old with 65k on it I was planning to do this at around 70k, now I'm not so sure!

What has anyone else been told by Vx?

    Vehicle : Vectra

    Trim : Sri

    Engine : Z19DTH

    Year : 2005

    Mileage : 198,500

    Default

According to Autodata replacement interval on the cdti is 100,000 mile or 10 years, and I can't find any updates on their website.

The previous use and service history of the vehicle must always be taken into account

Still you would be mad to leave it that long imo, someone's on here snapped at 70kish recently.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Theres no way I would wait until 10 years or 100k (I thought that was for the 150 16valve CDTI)

I guess 70k is about right then - theres always a risk in waiting but where do you draw the line!

Exactly, its all up to the person at the time really. I'm gonna have mine done at 60k.

My personal rule is NEVER let any cam belt go longer than 4 years regardless of mileage but certainly no longer than 50,000 miles you hear to many horror stories these days and VX seem to change there minds about the intervals on a weekly rota !!!!!!.......Oh and ALWAYS ALWAYS change the rollers and tensioners as well dont be tempted to be cheap just cos they look alright !!!!!

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

My extended warranty provider says that I should follow the manufacturers service guides with regards to servicing. The belt on my V6 diesel isn't required to be changed until it's done 100,000 miles! What do I do? change it anyway, even though it's covered by a warranty or let it keep going until it goes bang! ?

Current mileage is 35,000 and I only do around 5,000 per Annam and the car isn't remapped or anything,so maybe I shouldn't worry too much anyway.

I've just been quoted £297 all in new tensioners, pulleys and belt from my local dealer to change on my 2005 '55' SRi 120 CDTi, independant garage £220
