WD 40........... or damp a cloth with a very small amount of petrol for really stubborn spots ........

I've used a small amount of the stuff that Vauxhall use to valet their cars. Diamond Stage 1, 2, 3, 4. I think they're called. The stage 2 is the shampoo. I add a little bit of it to my bucket and it remove all spots.

But, you can't beat a 'Clay' bar.

I tend to use tar remover [ the sort you see on the shelf in the car shops], it seems to work. But I always put a coat of polish "etc" on where i have removed the tar.

autoglym tar remover...brill stuff...smells like pure petrol!...works a treat though, but worth washing the area afterwards and polishing back up...only costs a fiver or so

What he just said! Although I'll try AG Engine & Machine Cleaner first as it doesn't leave the oily film that the Tar Remover does (and the subsquent wash and buff). If that doesn't budge some of them, then it's the Tar Remover.

The Engine & Machine Cleaner works brilliantly for bugs as well.
