Any body (in scotland) seeing petrol stations shutting down as no petrol? I had a devil of a job getting soem and I was down to 3 miles left in the range finder.

Also a local independant station in west end of WHITBURN (lets name and shame them) raised their petrol to £1.18p / L Another garage in HARTHILL is reputed to have Diesel at £1.25p/L they are robbing the very customers who support them the rest of the time. Guess which garages will lose out when all this blows over. Any body else seen this level of profitering?

The refinery only covers Scotland, Northern Ireland and North of England.

The petrol station i use had run out of unleaded and regular diesel yesterday. It's been mobbed all day apparently. Why do people think 'panic buying' will help? The fuel will just burn up as quickly as it would do any other time!!

I also sold 4 petrol cans to a guy today. I was quite p*ssed off at the thought of him filling his car and the 4 tanks while the person behind him who genuinely needs the fuel has to do without because he took the last of it........

Also, I can't see the government letting the country run dry - surely the would get some fuel sent up from 'down south'?

T4M I think that the comapny is shutting down the plant as an excuse to show the people that they are the bosses and will not be held to ransom, so we all suffer. I don't mind suffering as the guys are getting a raw deal here. Heard on the TV this morning that the plant is 40% down on production!!

Problem is the usual tankers that would be delivering the fuel will have to travel far a field to fill up again and that takes time. So I don't think that the country will dry out - more like rationing will come into play to safe guard the services and important people like the council bosses etc

It's to try and justify the fuel prices and profits of the oil companies.

Making people think it is 'running out' bolsters ignorance and acceptance of huge profits.


When the proper fuel protest happened a few years ago, a taxi driver turned up at my local Asda petrol station with a 45 gallon drum in his boot, saying it was his livelihood that was being affected and claimed that the petrol attendant couldn't do anything about him filling it up.

Clearly they could, as they switched off his pump - he got aggressive and the police carried him away.

Not only was he misguided that they couldn't stop him, he was also selfish to want to take soo much fuel and stupid thinking 45 gallons in his boot was safe.
Some people just won't see past their noses.
