    Default Blower not working correctly

Just noticed that my blower only seems to work at one speed. Positions 1-3 hardly do anything if they are working at all, then 4 is turbo mode!

My missus had an old fiesta that needed a resistor pack changing to resolve a similar problem. Is it likely to be the same thing going on here?

Also, my rear wiper doesn't work. Hopefully these faults aren't linked?!

Blower problem sounds like the old knackered resistor problem - normally due to water ingress. Have a relevant search and you'll bring up a few threads.

    EDIT: Here's one - http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=21620

    Thanks Duncan - that's brilliant.

Just need to work out how to remove the glove box now. I'll do a search for that info next.

    No probs.

Glove box is easy. You'll need a T20 (Torx) bit. Look along the bottom edge of the glove box with it closed, you'll see two or three (can't recall exact number from memory) screws to remove. Same along the top edge. Glove box should now be loose and be able to be removed. Before you just yank it out, pull it out a bit to then let you disconnect the plug on the light that you'll now be able to see. Once you've done that you can safely take it out all the way.

Cheers for that. I'll get the pack and sort it this weekend.

The plot thickens... (as usual - nothing is straightforward!)

... just went out for a drive and tried the heater. All settings worked!
Stopped and tried it again - clicks heard behind dash but then only 1 and 4 worked. Tried it again and all worked. Tried again and only 4 worked.

Is this still sounding like a dodgy resistor pack? Obviously not the motor but I'm now wondering whether it could be the control!

do what i did go to maplins get yourself a new thermal fuse 240c conect the fuse using domino blocks with the plastic cut off. save you buying a new resistor pack and it only costs you 69p make sure your drain plug is clear located just below pollen filter as this is the cause of the thermal fuse blowing in the first place ....hope this helps
