Hi guys.
I haven't been on much lately, been going through some problems at home..
Me and the missus are parting ways. maybe temporarily (hopefully) but we've got a house together, and was hoping to get some advise from anyone in the know.
We don't want to sell the house, because time apart may bring us closer together, and we may get back together and decide to live together again.
We've decided that my missus gets to stay in the house (isn't that always the case )
And I pay a portion of the mortage so I am still legally entited to 50% of the house.
Now this is where we need the advise. Hopefully I won't have to pay 50% of the mortgage to own 50% of the house?
The mortgage is about £570/month (pretty high)
So I was thinking whoever stays there pays about £300 for the privlidge of staying there. Kinda like rent, then the remaining £270 is split equally between us to own a 50% share in the house.
So she would pay £300 + £135
I would pay £135
and we both have a 50% share in the house, and she gets to live there.
Does any of this make sense? And where would I stand legally?
These are just random values I've guessed up.
Any help would be much appreciated!!
We're going to try and get an appointment in with a solicitors sometime this week, but I just want to be prepared. We're still on good terms, so I think it's best to get something legally set now, rather than wait and if we do fall out, I'll get screwed.
Thanks
Dan
