Taking one of my alloys in tomorrow to get it refurbed - not a simple job like everyone else seems to be doing, oh no...
My wheels have chrome rims, and one of the things that I was impressed with when I bought them was that the rims are replaceable. Great idea, I thought, because I'm bound to kerb them at some point. Anyway, courtesy of a rather large pothole on the M1 not long after I bought them, I lost one of the chrome rims.
No big deal, I thought, I'll just call Team Dynamics and order a new rim. Ha! As if it was going to be that easy... Team Dynamics won't just post out a new rim, they insist on having the wheel returned to them so they can do it. Bit of a pain, but oh well... Then comes the cherry on the cake... Team Dynamics don't deal with the general public, only approved dealers. They gave me the name of a local place that would sort it for me, which was nice.
Now, they had already told me that the price would be £30 to replace the rim, or £40, and that would incude removal and refitting of the tyre, valve, rebalancing etc., so all I would be paying for would be the couriering (is that even a word? )
So a quick call to this local shop today... Their price to package and courier the wheel to Team Dynamics?
Chuffing rip off! £100 for a new rim that is only costing £30! Maybe replaceable rims AREN'T such a good idea....anyhow, a pic of a very sorry looking back quarter, taken on a bad camera phone as it was going dark, so sorry it's fuzzy!
But it's show season soon, it had to be done
