    Default What happened there?

Earlier on this evening the wife said "Your car alarm's going off". I never heard it due to being in the kitchen, which is much too far away to hear a Vectra alarm! I went outside and, sure enough, alarm sounding and indicators flashing. It was easy to see why it had gone off; the windows were both open!

My question is this: why did the windows on the car open by themselves?

the unlock button on the key opens the windows automatically if you keep it pressed down long enough,

do you think you/someone might have done this by mistake ?

I don't think so, coz the key was in my pocket. The doors would've been unlocked and the alarm turned off if this was the case.

That happened to me one night not long after I got the car... locked the car up in the drive and went to bed. Next morning when I went out to the car the drivers window was all the way down and the door was still locked!!

Thankfully it hasn't done it since!

Hmmm, I know the windows close themselves if you leave them open anyway so there must be a problem there. Maybe something to do with that function going wrong and opening them instead. I wonder where you would stand if the stereo/satnav was stolen ??

I thouht that the windows were supposed to close by them selves after four hours, if left open, when the button is pressed twice[ alarm mode]. so if they were opened by accident they would close by them selves??

Mine did exactly that as well. I was sure it was closed when I left the car. I don't put the window down anyway, I use the AC.

As you say the car was still locked & the one window was right down. Lucky it didn't rain.

It only did it once so I never bothered getting it checked.

I was sitting in my car yesterday lunchtime, listening to the radio. After, probably 20 minutes the doors locked by themself. A short time after the alarm went off with me still in the car. Has anyone experienced this?

could you have sat down and without realizing pressed the buttom which winds down the doors, then the car automatically locked intself as nobody opened a door? I just checked this, and this worked on mine, so could be what happened to yours.

I happened to us. We had left my Mum was in the car in supermarket carpark, but had taken the keys with us. She did not know how to turn the thing off and so had all these people looking at her. We found it very funny.
