    Question Recommend a digital camera?

Looking to get one for Sam for her birthday - she loves to snap away, but is far from being interested in an expensive DSLR or anything like that. So, my requirements are:

    • Price up to £150
    • At least 7 or 8MP
    • Must have at least 3x optical zoom
    • No need for any internal memory, I'll get a separate card
    • No real need for many settings or options, just 'point & shoot'
    • LCD display as large as possible

I haven't started looking myself yet, will be going out this week, but it would be nice to be armed with some suggestions.

And obviously, the cheaper, the better - I can spend any that's left over on other presents - quantity is FAR more important than quality, eh?

    TIA

i bought this one fro Argos:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...ng.Samsung.htm

yes in pink aswell, really i wanted one but gave it to my wife as a present, but i use it all the time, the only way i could get my hands on one.

its has 5 x optical with 10mp but best of all it has face detection, which means it can detect upto 9 faces i think, and ensures that it is focused when taking the picture on these faces.

the only downside is, that it kills the batteries which is not rechargeable so i bought some separete batteries.

I recently bought a Samsung L830 for £80 on offer. Very compact and can be point and shoot, or can set things up on it too. Takes very good pictures, even with the flash. Rechargeable battery, SD card slot, shake reduction etc

    Well worth the money.

    3 x optical zoom

    The Canon IXUS 70.

My mate bought one last week off Amazon for £107 delivered.

He took a photo of a C17 aircraft at our place from 500 yards away on full zoom. The image on the viewfinder was shaking to hell! The result? A PERFECTLY sharp close up. I was amazed.

    I want one!

I think the Panasonic FX33 ticks all those boxes, it has automatic scene selection as well as face detection, anti shake & wide angle lens & 4x zoom, £130

I bought this one, has all the modern bits like face detection, anti-shake etc etc, but very easy to use point and shoot, also the battery life is fantastic.
