    Default Clutch Problems

    Today my clutch has started slipping!! i think

    Every time I try and pull away from stand still or accelerate whilst on the move the engine starts to rev but there is very little bite from the clutch and the revs go through the roof!

    it's a 2.2dti

    Please tell me that there is a simple fix and that i don't need a new clutch

    I have never experienced clutch problems so am unsure exactly what the problems are

    Thanks

    I believe your motor has a DMF if so,they are very problematic.My first did 15k And was replaced under warranty.
    DMF=Dual Mass Fly Wheel.
    How many miles have you done?
    Are you warranty covered?

    Does it do it all the time?? Ie if you're traveling fairly slowly in a high gear, if you floor it and it slips then the clutch is knacked. That's about the bottom line.

    Sounds like the clutch slipping. Ive had this on numerous cars over the past 30 years. I do not know what is involved in the Veccy clutch replacement but the old Vx mk2 Cavalier (FWD) was a doddle to replace, it just dropped out and new one slid in. Somehow I dont think the Veccy will be that easy. I had a slipping clutch replaced in a Rover Vitesse 10 years back and that was a swine of a job. Good luck.

    Half an hour job on the old Cavalier and i believe an 6 hour job on the veccy.They don't have to remove the engine though.I had a new clutch under warranty at 2000 miles and the engine stayed in the car.

    Btw. if anyone is still experiencing clutch judder on the facelift 1.8vvti after the new modified clutch has been fitted then take it back and get them to bleed the brakes and clutch cylinders.Mine juddered but after a full bleed is now smooth as a baby's bot!.
