Default new z19 cleaning method and mention about new valve

got this through from vx yesterday though you all might want a look.
i have posted the cleaning method with pics twice before so do a search if you need that or pm me.
oh and you never saw this from me!!!!!!!!!!! NOTE THE NEW VALVE MENTION?
Z19DT/DTH Engine – EGR Valve Trouble Code P0400(5A)
    Affected Vehicles:
    All with Z9DT/DTH engine
    Symptom:
Reduced engine performance and/or DTC P0400(5A)
EGR-valve stuck, other DTC's and symptoms can also be present.
    Root Cause:
EGR valve stuck open or closed because of soot contamination and/or corrosion.
    Solution:
New EGR valves (PTFE sealing and modified spring) are in release process.
At present there are EGR valves on backorder at P&A, therefore as an interim solution, clean the
    EGR valve as described.
    - Remove the EGR valve; separate the unit, electrical and valve.
    Note:
    Mark units for correct assembly.
    - Use a commercially available air intake system/throttle body cleaner to remove soot
from the valve i.e. Forte Air Intake Cleaner
    - Use a drill to rotate the valve (see picture).
    - Spray and clean with rotation and axial movement.
    - Check and ensure that the valve is moving freely.
    - Check the electrical unit; connect it to wiring harness and activate with Tech2.
    - Assemble the two units; check the valve - EGR FLOW with Tech2.

    Note:
the valve can be open for approx 1 minute at idle after starting.
    Perform Tech2 EGR Actuator test:
The following values are OK (cold-warm)
Air flow falls from ~35-50Kg/h to ~12-18kg/h, swirl flaps start operating (Z19DTH)

Do you think Vauxhall will ever admit that there is a problem with the EGR valve?
When you look at the number that are failing and the temporary repair measures that they are recommending and then the shortage of the valves themselves surely they must be aware.
Or will they just sit back and take our money.
OK they will just take our money, stupid question

Are the swirl valves part of the EGR system then?

the swirls are part of the egr to a degree thats why when you do the manifold replacement you can bet your bottom dollar you will have an egr present code when you drive it, personally i have done around 20 manifolds and a sh*t load of egr valve and to 100% cure this vauxhall need to sort out not only egr issues but engine crankcase ventalation as all vauxhalls petrol or diesel seem to breath heavy resulting in some form of problem ie; dirty throttle bodies or excess oil in all intake pipes, any other car and you would think you have severe engine problems!

Yeah, I know all about the oil mist from the breather but it doesn't effect me any more

I piped the breather to the back of the car and added a home made catch tank, I'm also adding a second catch tank in the engine bay that will go straight off the crank breather and feed back to the sump.

Got one question, ppl please answer:
Isn't the intake suppuse to $uck the mist through the crack case brether?
If you just do the catch tank job, the crack case pressure is up....and the gains are ....well...none.

Paralel to topic, how can I do a full cleaning of the intake sistem? to clean the soot out.
Is it possible to dimount everything and just clean them...then put them back?

Yes they have, hence a new part being rushed through design.

Of course they are aware, see reply above.

Of course they don't, the last thing Vauxhall/Opel want is a bad reputation for a failing part on their engines. It is unfortunate that the supplier to GM of these valves have produced a component that in a some cases has proven below standards.

As a manufacturer, they along with Vauxhall have to establish what the issue is, and a solution to the problem before a new part can be made, at least they have issue tempory solutions to keep some of these cars going.

Once the new part has been designed, it has to be tested to ensure the same fault does not occur, can you imagine if a new part is released and it is just as bad? These things take time to solve.

On the grand scheme of things, it is only a small percentage of cars that have suffered compared the the quantity of vehicles made across Europe.

I am on my third 1.9 150, all bought new and have never had an EGR fault in 130,000 miles combined.

So, when the new parts are in stock, is it likely that Vauxhall will recall all CDTIs to change this crappy component?

Probably not as it is not a safety issue, but they will change them as an when they go wrong.

As said above, it is only a small percentage of overall cars built that have been faulty.
