Default modded my air intake tonight nice wee power hike

as above afterr much pondering about doing this i finally did it tonight, basically the air intake on the 2.2 direct runs from airbox right over to other side of the radiator over 2 feet long! so ive ripped out the whole lot and left the black rubber flexy that attaches to airbox,im going to extend this slightly to clear headlight after taking the car for a "spin" it has definately made an improvement as the car is much more responsive and free revving im chuffed as it cost me nothing and appears too work well worth it imo

Get the Gsi intake tube from VX about £7 and it works a treat.

Dont want to ruin the party in here, but I think that does not change anything with a simple swap or mod of the intake....or at least nothing that can be to ovious.
Its more like a placebo effect as some one on another thread mentioned

I think it's feasible (that it does make a difference - how much is the question though) if it's a warm day or the engine is running over a prolonged period as the intake air isn't being warmed any more due to the intake pipe running across the front of the engine.

It'd certainly make a difference on a turbo engine, on a NA I don't know if it would be much. Anyways, it certainly can't do any harm. The worst it would do is no benefit, the upshot could be that it makes a small difference under certain conditions.
