    Default 2.2 Direct SRi

Following on from my test drive this morning, I'm quite interested in a 2.2 Direct in Black. It's got 45k and priced at £6290. Basically means that i need to find the 1290 as mine is supposedly worth 5k on a part exchange.

My last vec was a 2.2 direct but had only done 29k and i've regretted selling the car ever since i got the diesel and this seems like a good buy, being black, an SRi and a 2.2 direct!!

I'm after some opinions on what to look out for, obviously as it's a much higher mileage than my old one......

    Hi Tam,

I've just looked in my special 2.2direct manual, and it states you cannot return once you have gone over to the 'dark side'

    Sorry!!

    hahaha.

I'm made up with mine, wasnt 4 weeks ago when the timing chain and tensioners had to be replaced (listen out for a rattle, and try and start it from cold if you can). You'll have an idea of whats it like, as you say from your previous motor. The future is bright, the future is direct!

Mine sounded a bit 'whiney' when i started it from cold but was fine when it heated up. It ran good but i was a bit worried about the noises it made, but since hearing a few of them it's just normal........

It turned 3 years old in Feb, so just out of warranty. My tax runs out at the end of the month so i'm hoping everything works out before i need to renew it

My folks will go ape if i buy it but 1500 quid is a lot less than the 6500 i was looking at this morning

Tam, youve only just had your current one after swopping.
TBH id seriously think if you want a vectra as if you keep changing over the course of say a year you will be down by 3-4k then add on to thast depreciation and fuel!

Stick with what you have, if not id look at another marque

Good piece of advice there. You seem to be changing your cars more than you change your undies!! lol.

Seriously though, as Greg said, your going to end up losing a fortune. We all know that Vectra's arent the best model at retaining their value.

    Think it through!!

That's true Gregg, but the performance of the diesel has gone downhill since the pulley snapped and i'm wanting shot. It's worth 5 grand on a p/x and tbh i'm only paying 4 grand for it
