Nokia Car Kit - possible iPod interface???

Guys

My SRi came with a Nokia car kit already installed. This is obviously useful but I was just wondering if the car kit can be 'tapped into' somehow to use for iPOD or MP3 player connectivity. The reason I ask is because the phone identifies itself as EXTERNAL IN. So I was wondering if it is likely that if I fabricated some sort of device to sit on the cradle it might let me play tunes through it... somehow...?

If the cradle supports left, right and ground... maybe I could access these using a ******ed old mobile and some soldering? Would it need some sort of signalling channel too to select the input?

Anyone got any ideas or more info?

'External in' is only mono signal

Car kits are mono only,it shows ext in due to a wire being grounded by the car kit,so not a lot of use i'm afraid.
