    Default engine idle speed help

hi all. i`ve had my 2.2 petrol sri for about two months now and i love it. best car ive ever had. without a doubt!! one little niggle with the car is the engine idle speed. could somebody tell me what spped it should be idling at? it currently idles beteen 6 - 700 rpm which i think is too low and sometimes it feels like its going to stall when driving off from still. would this be why it wants to stall? and is there an easy way to fix it? any help is greatly appreciated!!

cheers mate. thats a few things youve helped me out with on this site now. thanks. i had an sri astra before 1.8 and would never had stalled it. ever driving up a hill it would just pull with no revs when i let the clutch out...the vectras a bit different tho,, needs the revs too. is this the way it just is?

I can let the clutch out on my 2.2 on an incline and it will pull away by its self, in fact the ECU adds revs to stop it stalling so it actually revs a little bit more than at idle! The grill is just the Silver topped Irmscher one, or do you mean the lower grill?

yeah mate the top one. it looks sweet! there must be something wrong with mine somewhere. it stalls far to easy. i haven`t stalled a car since i was learning to drive 11 years ago and i have with the vectra a few times now. it just seems like there is no power when i go to take of sometimes

Might just need a good service mate. Also take the hose off the front of your throttle body and check for oily gunk. A good blast of carb cleaner wouldn't do any harm.

no, probs will give this a go tomorrow and let u know if it sorts it out. had to do this a few times in the astra too. the engine in it used to idle erratically every so often and the carb cleaner usually sorted it out for another 6 months. hopefully thsi sorts the problem out. thanks for your help mate!

p.s its due a service actually. serviced it myself last week by holding in trip reset and brake pedal....could do with getting it done properly tho
