i'm a bit out of my league here so will just ask is that about right for your car ????

also when at the dealer's tomorrow make sure you tell them to check it out, it is detremantal to the engine if it is '' bore washing ''.....

i might be completly wrong about this though so will finish with a good luck and keep us posted

Definitely sounds like it could be bore washing, or piston rings somehow worn? Basically petrol getting past the pistons and into the oil.

If the car is badly overfuelling then that could be the reason for excess petrol in the combustion chamber not being burnt and getting past the pistons. I don't know the average mpg for a 2.2, but 27 doesn't sound too far from what it should be.

Whatever you do, you need to get an oil/filter change on the car ASAP to get rid of the petrol in the oil - then see if you can find out why the petrol is getting there. e.g. is it overfuelling or is it because of worn piston rings etc.

cheers duncan......regretably thinking of telling them where to park it (ie. where the light would need to be on all the time) and maybe look for a veccy.
