    Default How much for tyres!

Is it just me or are the 205/55/R16 tyres (fitted to my cheapo steel wheels!) really expensive?

I'm getting prices of £85 upwards for budget brands! It seems a little excessive for a bog standard family car wheel size?

At this rate, its almost worth going for a budget alloy wheel and tyre combo!

    That sounds about right
I had Michelin Pilot HX MXM 205/55R16 on my Vectra B and they started off at £130 each and after a few years they were down to £110 each
I had Continental SuperContact 205/55R16 on my Mondeo Mk3, but also replaced these with the above Michelin, and in those two years the price didn't change much between £100 and £110

    Thats a rip off!

Shop round, I can get 18"'s for that sort of money and performance tyres too.

When I had the Astra, I used to get Kumho ku11's in that size for £70 a corner so those seem way over the top.

Prices came down and by the time I got rid I was paying around £75 for a Toyo Proxes T1-S

£70 for Toyo/Kuhmos sounds more like it! Were they from national fitters or one of the online companies?

    Have a look here - http://www.etyres.co.uk/

Good prices and they fit at your home or office. I've been using them for the last 4 or 5 years and always very pleased with their service.

Cheers for those - etyres offering Firestones for around £71 which is OK.

I'm always a bit dubious about getting tyres from ebay - the postage costs usually put me off as well!
