I am seriously a Diesel Convert...

Now I know this type of thread comes up all the time, but I'm going to do it again.

I treat company money as my own, most of the time... and this applies to fuel. I get all my fuel covered on a fuel card but it still matters to me in terms of value for money.

Today, I filled up with BP Ultimate Diesel just outside the Isle of Grain in Kent.

When I got back to my driveway, 73.3 miles later as illustrated, the needle on the fuel guage had barely moved:





And the range was showing this:



Now, I am sure I won't get the extra 656 miles as shown, which would equal a total of 720 odd, although I have only once got 676 out of the first vec I had. But what I do know is that I will probably get another 500.

Thats it, just quite satisfied and wanted to share it.

Oh, and I was on an unfinished industrial area earlier and the Silver Lightning SRi has been turned into rally car mud status.... will get a piccy tomorrow when its light... sometimes cars can look really mean when they are caked... or is that just me?!!!

my 1.8 would be down past the first line on the guage with that millage i so want a diesel

Absolutely, and if I went and did a 5 mile trip now it would probably judder down a little - but on the whole I think we are driving a seriously good engine - in terms of the way running costs are fab whilst still being a particularly fast motor. Happy!

i totally agree with you r-man,

i picked my car up on saturday with half a tank in it, ive travelled down from the dealer, went for a couple of runs, been to work and back twice and still showing range of 114 miles - seriously good - mpg showing average of 48.6 which i think is pretty good for the sorta driving ive been doing and i aint been hanging around

That is seriously good. When I fill up the petrol 3.2 V6, I am lucky if I see 600KMs to go on the range thingy.

I Bought mine because it blew the 3.0 CDTi also at the dealers into the weeds..
